Signed Soten Fuchi Kashira

A signed set of Fuchi Kashira from the famous Soten School of sword fittings:

The Soten school was founded by Soheishi Nyudo in Hikone (Goshu) during the 17th century, and continued into the late Edo Period, 19th century.

Collectors like Soten tosogu because of their elaborate carvings, usually depicting Samurai scenes.  Quality ranges from good to exquisite.  Usually, better works are signed, but not always. The finest early Soten tsuba were intricately carved from shakudo.  Multi metal composition over an iron plate became more common in later works.  Kodogu remained carved from shakudo and embellished with gold highlights.  Generally, later works show a decline in quality.

These Fuchi Kashira are above average Soten School work.  They are in their original patina.  If clean up is elected, it should be proper.  Fuchi and Kashira are an original matched set, and will paper as such.
